[DESIGN] AIDLIN DARLING

One of my top three favorite design firms that I have come across since starting this blog definitely includes Aidlin Darling Design. The principal designer duo behind the firm are Joshua Aidlin and David Darling.

While browsing though their work it quickly became clear that the San Francisco based design firm pays incredible attention to detail. Although each project has it's own unique features, it is still evident that each one has been designed by the firm.

I love the industrial and modern feel the metals give to the spaces combined with the richness of wood. There are so many beautiful lines found through out each project.

[DESIGNER] KRISTEN HUTCHINS

It was a must for me to not only share Kristen Hutchins Design but also her logo. I absolutely love it just as much as her work. The Los Angeles based designers style definitely says California to me.

The pops of pattern found in interior's Kristen has designed are a favorite elements of mine. It always seems that I'm attracted to those details that just pop out and demand some attention.

[INTERIOR] NOBIS HOTEL

While I'm often attracted to spaces with a feminine vibe I still also find myself being drawn to spaces with a very masculine feel to them like the luxurious rooms found at Nobis Hotel.

The hotel is located in Stockhom, the capital and largest city of Sweden. This hotel has history behind it with it's 19th century original interiors.

A pool house beauty in connecticut by architecture firm Hariria & Hariria. I love how the pool house hovers over the pool and the wood floors that stretch out from the interior space onto the deck area. I can picture myself sitting at the edge of the deck and dipping my toes into the water...

Just when I thought Kelly Wearstler couldn't get any better, she got a blog. I am thrilled that Kelly is sharing the behind the scenes to her unqiuely fierce work on My Vibe My Life.

As great as it is to see completed projects from designers, it's often just as fascinating to get a glimpse of their design process. You know, the behind the scenes stuff.

I love the loose care free feeling to Kelly's vibe trays. It seems to be the perfect combination of staying organized while still keeping it very casual.

The Alred Chair by Loris & Livia is a perfect reminder that design is not always just about aesthetic but also function. Since I always love knowing designers' educational background, I thought I'd share that Loris Jaccard studied contemporary jewelry and product design; Livia Lauber studied product and industrial design. The designer met in London and voila! We now have this lovely chair to admire.

[CLAUDIA] BRAND IDENTITY

Soon I will be a fresh-out-of-school interior designer. Wow has the time has flown by! I cannot believe that mid March is my portfolio showing and that our first little one is expected some time around April 28th. Life seems to be happening so fast! A daily goal of mine has been to really be soaking up such an amazing time in life.

As a new designer one of the first things I really want to focus on is my brand identity and I am beyond excited to be working with the lovely Erika on this. I was already looking forward to this project but after hearing back from Erika I was even more excited than before! She had so many great questions for me so that she could better understand my aesthetic. After a few days of pin pointing things that truly inspire me and appeal to my design eye I came up with several avenues of inspiration. Today I am sharing ladies whose style and design inspire my little design heart!

The Girls With Glasses l I instantly fell in love with these girls’ style. Now one of the girls, Summer, even has a sweet little bump to show off with her great fashion sense.

Mrs. Lilien l I sometimes confuse myself (and probably many others!). A lot of time times I find myself attracted to design that incorporates a soft pallet of colors but then I am also very attracted to design with bright saturated pops of color. Mrs. Lilien is definitely full of those fun bright pops of color that catch my attention. I cannot help but love her Mrs. style and design. If you ask me this Mrs. was savvy in incorporating that fun little ace throughout her design. I like keeping an eye out for it since it always pops up throughout her Mrs. adventures. l photo l Milk

Kelly Wearstler l This interior designer dares to be different and bold and I absolutely admire her for that. Her design aesthetic seems to be perfect for the hospitality world of interior design where guest can appreciate her style for a period of time. I love love love Ms. Wearstler’s logo, It’s simple yet chic!

Maemae Paperie I don’t think I’ve come across any work designed by the talented Megan Gonzalez of Maemae Paperie that I have not absolutely loved. I love her sophisticated feminine style. A big plus in my book: this girl adds a bit of sparkle and confetti to her photo styling! Make sure to check out Megan's studio tour.

...argentina. it's official. i have a soft spot for spaces that are mostly neutral with pops of color. my favorite element in this space: the painting above the linear fireplace. here's a fun fact if you didn't already know: buenos aires means "good winds" in spanish.

...has struck me again... another pup that is just too cute not to share. this cute pup spends his days at the old faithful shop in vancouver, canada. who needs a doggy bed when you can place some comfy padding for your pup inside an vintage drawer... i always love finding ways to use things in ways other than what they were intended for.

...penthouse. i am loving kari schlegel's dallas penthouse. kari shares this 11.5 million, 12,200 sq. ft. penthouse with her brother kriby and her pup jack. this brother and sister duo call the 29th floor of the w dallas victory home. the penthouse was designed as "his and hers" home with a common entreating area between the two living spaces. doesn't that sound fabulous?

and if you're thinking domino when looking a kari's space you thought right. kari knew exactly what she wanted for the space and went to designer jane showers with ideas from domino, color schemes and all!

sharing some more puppy love. this pups one black eye is adorable. mr. mac and i still don't have a pet pup... i'm still just having fun just looking at these cute little guys. does anyone have a pet they just love oh-so-very-much?

happy weekend! i'll be working away on school work but i also hope to to sneak in some time in washington's great outdoors. keeping my fingers crossed for some sunshine.

...i am chair happy happy happy! last week katherine and i went to the seattle design center on the hunt for textiles for a current design project. we're designing a family home for fictional clients- rick and jane and their two children. our trip to the design center was a success. we came home with samples of some beautiful fabrics to use in our design concepts. well what does this all have to do with chairs...

well... one of fabrics i am incorporating into my design is a beautiful geometric black and cream pattern. the exact fabric shown on this antique klismos chair, circa 1940! the best part is that i had actually envisioned this fabric for some seating in the main family area. i am loving my current design project and i hope to share it when it's complete.

...confession: i've never watched a single epesoide. this may be a girl crime to most ladies out there but i just had to confess. i did check out the movie from the library though. i think that counts a tiny bit.

i'm loving the patterns in some of these ladies clothing. overall- i just love all the colors. it's great inspiration for my design projects. i've been really drawn to feminine touches in interior spaces.
